Our city’s symbol is the humble worker bee. You can no doubt spot it on lamposts, art installations and more while on your travels, from its industrious image represented in civic spots to a rainbow-striped edition throughout The Village on Canal Street.

Far from being a sweet bit of modern marketing, the bee has been the emblem of Manchester for well over 150 years. It represents the general hustling, bustling and productivity that occurs throughout the city, as well as the sheer amount of effort it takes to continually push for progress.

Mancunians are grafters. But we also stick together, stoking serious pride in our hive and the things we can create.
